The rise of the American Consumer began in those halcyon days following World War II.. It was a time of peace and prosperity, when the advent of television entertained all of the GI's and their families after decades of war and depression.

And it was television especially, combined with the innovations of Madison Avenue Marketing, which began a long road toward making the Consumer the dominant force in our economy.
