Well, I have to confess that I took a sigh of relief when the GDP Numbers were released this morning. I knew they would be good, both of the Fed's Models already indicated that. But the question was exactly how good? And we needed a very positive rebound from the second quarter's disastrous economic decline.

So it was a happy moment when my computer screen flashed: GDP up 33% for the quarter. The largest increase in history. And that wasn't even close. And while some may quibble whether this is truly a “V” shaped recovery, more about that in a moment, this is certainly everything we could have hoped for.

So let's dive in. Just what is this GDP measure, and what exactly does it say about the current state of the economy.
