How The Fed Puts Words Into Action.

Today the Federal Open Market Committee will begin their 6th meeting of the year. All together they will hold 8 such meetings, designed to implement the Fed's current monetary policy.

Now the Federal Reserve is the nation's central bank. And its primary responsibility, by Congressional mandate, is to promote full employment and stable prices. This Committee the Federal Open Market Committee or FOMC, actually puts the Fed's policy to work, by buying and selling primarily US Treasuries.
