Google, Facbook: In The Shadow Of Standard Oil?

In the late 19th century one man put together an oil company that has never been matched. The man was John D Rockefeller, and the company was Standard Oil. Rockefeller ran Standard Oil from 1870 until 1897, at which time he turned the day to day operation of the company over to its managers.

But during that time he managed to put together the most dominant oil company of all time. At it's peak, Standard Oil controlled 90% of the oil production in this country.
